Projects

The following projects were accomplished by private contributions to the Foundation unless noted otherwise.

January 2023 - Begin fundraising for repairing the roof of the 99 year old Community Hall Building on Main Street. The City of Lebanon, in cooperation with the U.S. Center Foundation, are receiving donations to fund preserving the roof of this Historic structure.

Spring 2023 - Making preparations for the BKRT (Big Kansas Road Trip) coming to Smith County on May 5th - 7th,  2023.  Jewell and Republic Counties are also highlighted for the 2023 BKRT.

September 9, 2023 - Plan to enjoy the Lebanon Bash.  https://www.lebanonbash.com/

May 2022 - Received $1000 Grant funds from the Smith County Community Foundation to hire professionals to investigate the structural integrity of the 1924 Community Hall Building. (also known as City Hall)

May 2022 - Received a designated IRA distribution which will be used to fund Community Hall roofing repairs.

Sept. 10, 2022 - Hosted the 9th Lebanon Bash in partnership with the City of Lebanon and the Lebanon Volunteer Fire Department.

Sept. 2022 - U.S. Center Foundation began operations at the Historical U.S. Geographic Center when the Lebanon Hub Club discontinued their volunteer service and upkeep of this landmark after more than 80 years of faithfulness.

Nov. 2022 - Received Grant funds from the Smith County State Bank & Trust Charitable Trust for Chapel repairs at the Geographic Center Park.

Nov. 2022 - Received Grant funds from the Dane G. Hansen Foundation for improvements at the Geographic Center Park grounds.

May 2021 - Removed 3 large dead trees from behind Visitor Center.  Received Grant Funds from the Rathert Foundation to sponsor the Weather Museum & Science Center for this year's -Lebanon Bash on September 11th.

July 2021 - Assisted cleanup with the city & owners of 5 dilapidated & unsafe properties.

September 11, 2021 - Hosted the Annual Lebanon Bash, in partnership with the City of Lebanon & Volunteer Fire Department & area Volunteers.

March 2020 - New carpet and ceiling tiles installed in visitor center. Purchased dilapidated property for cleanup on Maple St.

September 12, 2020 - Sponsored the Lebanon Bash limiting concert attendees. Included Lebanon Fire Dept. Fundraiser.

December 2020- Received $1500 Grant from Smith County Community Foundation for dead tree removal on Visitor Center property.

November 2019 – Received grant from SCSB&T Charitable Trust for $776 to replace carpet & ceiling tiles in Visitor Center.

September 2019 – 6th Annual Lebanon Bash and Jason Boland live in Concert

June 2019 – Joined the City welcoming the Ambassador from the Country of Lebanon to Cedar of Lebanon Tree Planting in the US Center Park

July 2019 – Sold lots cleaned up in 2008 to The Peoples Bank for new ATM – ITM BelleLIve Banking

May 2019 – Added eleven more names to bricks on the Community Wall, for a total of 455 named bricks.

September 2018 – New directional sign installed on 501 Elm Hwy 281 Property.

September 15th – Volunteers & Friends celebrated the 5th Annual LEBANON BASH. All day activities and evening concert.

June 2018 – Received $1000 Grant from RATHERT FOUNDATION for a Highway Sign.

May & August – Refurbished 2 Clearview gas pumps donated by Bill & Joyce Bunker.

April & May 2018 – Installed new windows, doors, lavatory & paint on interior of Visitor Center. (Funded by Smith Co. Comm. Foundation)

April 2018- Painted exterior of Visitor Center to resemble a retro Standard Oil Station as it was in early 1900’s

April 2018 – Solid Rock Construction removed old concrete and poured new driveways for Visitor Center.

March 2018 – Received $9000 Grant from DANE G. HANSEN FOUNDATION for new concrete  driveways at Visitor Center.

December – New Roof put on Visitor Center.

December – Received $2425 from Smith Co. Community Foundation for Windows, Door, Paint for Visitor Center renovations.

October – Received $560 from Smith County St. Bank & Tr. Charitable Trust for Visitor Center electric heaters.

September – Received $5000 from Cole’s Foods for Community Project. Used on Visitor Center & Historic Jail.

September 16th – Volunteers and Friends from USA & Canada celebrated the 4th annual LEBANON BASH community event.

July – Received $4500 From DANE G HANSEN FOUNDATION for Lebanon Bash sponsorship.

June – Assisted clearing a property on Elm St.

June – CEO of COLE’S FOODS offered support toward  ’17 Bash along with launching their new food product, MIDDLES, at this event.

May – Received $700 from the Rathert Foundation for Low-Maintenance picnic table for Visitor’s Center

May – Added 15 new names to the Community Wall of Community Center Building.

May- Opened Visitor’s Center Memorial Weekend with plans to Retro exterior to original Standard Gas Station

May – Historic Jail and Harmony Park nearing completion.

May – Cleaned up partially burnt house on Highway

May – Received $3735 from Smith County Community Foundation for Lebanon Fire Department Fire Truck pump replacement.

March 2017 – Gary Thompson Agency donated their former Insurance Office property to the U.S. Center Foundation (corner of Kansas & Main St.)

March 2017 – Pavilion was set on new pad and Historic Jail Cells relocated in Harmony Park. Pavilion funded by Dane G. Hansen Foundation.

February 2017 – Began pouring concrete pad and walks in Harmony Park. Partially Funded by SCCF and SCSB&T Char. Tr.

January 2017 – Assisted City and Property Owner with another Kansas St. property demolition.

January 2017 – Assisted City and Property Owner with Willow St. multiple property demolition.

January 2017 – Assisted City & Property Owner with Kansas St. property demolition.

 

November 2016 – Received funds for a new handrail that was installed in front of the Community Center.

November 2016 – Received $4300 from Smith Co. Community Foundation for Phase 2- Lebanon Fire Station Improvements.

November 2016 – Downtown Main St. sidewalks completed by Solid Rock Construction. USCF raised local match of $23,000 and CDBG funded remainder.

October 2016 – Assisted City and Property Owner with completing demolition of a partially burned house on Chestnut St.

October 2016 – Received $4950 from Dane G. Hansen Foundation for a Pavilion in Harmony Park.

October 2016 – Received $1500 from Sm. Co. State Bank & Trust Co. Charitable Trust for Harmony Park Sidewalks.

 August 13, 2016 – Volunteers & Friends Celebrated at 3rd Annual LEBANON BASH.


May 2016 – Added 7 additional names to the “Community Wall”

May 2016 – Received Rathert Trust Grant of $450 for Harmony Park waste receptacles.

May 2016 – Received $5000 from Sm.Co.Community Foundation for Phase 1 – Fire station improvements.

May 2016 – Cleared Highway Property that Foundation purchased at 2015 tax auction.

April 2016 – Assisted City & property owner with Chestnut St. property demo.

November 2015 – Received Hansen Foundation (through Sm.Co.Community Foundation) grant of $3000 to establish Harmony Park downtown Main.

August 14, 2015 – Celebrated Lebanon’s Volunteers & Friends with Second LEBANON SUMMER BASH!

July 2015 – Assisted City with CDBG  application & funding for new downtown sidewalks. Received grant in July.

May 2015 – Received Rathert Trust Grant for outdoor classroom benches & table for Library

April 2015 – Purchased Highway property to demo at tax auction.

Raised $25,000 for New Sidewalk Project and unlivable dwelling clean up project

July 25, 2014  –  Celebrated Lebanon’s Volunteers & Friends with the First LEBANON SUMMER BASH!

May 2014 – Added 10 more names to the “Community Wall”

2013

June 2013 – Added more fire safety equipment to Community Center with funds received from Smith County Community Foundation

May 2013 – 8 more names added to “Community Wall” totaling 406 total names + 3 corrections

2012

May 2012 – 40 more names added to brick “Community Wall”

May 2012 – Addition of Nex-Tech Wifi and media system in Community Center

April 2012 – Addition of landscaping and sidewalks to Community Center

2011

April  – November 2011 – Construction of new Community Center

2010

September 18th, 2010 – 4th Annual City Wide Clean Up

Spring 2010 – Kansas Ave. property cleanup

January 2010 – Lebanon receives CDBG funding for Community Center from HUD with local matching of 25%
